Atlanta, GA – On Saturday, June 29 from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Governor's Mansion, First Lady Marty Kemp will host a pet adoption day for rescue cats and dogs. Mrs. Kemp has partnered with nineteen humane societies, animal shelters, and rescues from across the state to help find homes for these animals.

"Our family was thrilled that thirty-nine cats and dogs found forever homes at our last adoption day event," said First Lady Marty Kemp. "Throughout the summer months, many rescue organizations see an influx in animal populations, so we are excited to open up the grounds of the mansion once again to help find homes for many more dogs and cats in need."

For this event, First Lady Kemp has also partnered with Companions for Heroes (C4H) and the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA). C4H provides companion and service animals from shelters, rescues, and humane societies to active duty military personnel, military veterans, first responders, military spouses and children, and Gold Star Families who are recovering from psychological challenges suffered while serving our country, all free of charge. C4H will be on site accepting applications from eligible heroes with appropriate identification as well as assisting in the adoption of companion animals.

GEMA will provide participants with information regarding how to ensure pets are prepared and kept safe throughout this year's hurricane season as well as other emergency situations.

About Companions for Heroes
Companions for Heroes (C4H) provides companion animals obtained from shelters and/or rescues, who might otherwise be euthanized, free of charge to active duty military personnel, military veterans, and first-responders recovering from the psychological challenges they suffered during service to our country. C4H increases public awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other challenges confronting our country’s heroes; and rally’s support for animal welfare and the adoption of shelter and/or rescue animals.
